With an unelected president, referenda ignored or rerun, genocide ignored, is EU just a rich elitist club?

There is a serious risk of the Euro elite behaving as tho the EU exists for the people to serve them, instead of the other way round. In the UK it already seems that our Prime Minister behaves as tho all our money is the country's, and he (the government) allows us to keep some! This appears to be the new socialism!!
