Christians: Can you explain The Trinity and show me the verse(s) supporting your claim?

The Trinitarians believe that God, or the Godhead, as they call it, is actually three persons who form one God. There are Orthodox icons showing three angels sitting at a table representing the Holy Trinity. However, as all sane people know, this doctrine goes against the monotheistic Judaic "Shema Yisrael".
