What role if any does Affirmative Action play in McCain's VP pick?

shouldn't play a role at all. affirmative action is as racist as any Jim Crow law. it indicates that since a certain group of people can't be competent on their own then the government will make up the difference. in this day and age of opportunities available to minorities there's no excuse to give someone a little nudge just because they are gay, black, female, left-handed albino eskimos or whatever...any person can get far in life in this country if they work hard and keep their head straight. quit relying on the govt to take care of you. that is the conservative (which McCain's VP is more of than himself) view of life. work hard, less govt involvement, less victimization, less whining...that's the way to get ahead
