What should I wear to a work Banquet?

My husband is having a work Banquet on Friday night. This will be my first banquet I have attended. It is at a Country Club. I don't know any of the other wives so I can't ask them what to wear and of course my husband has no idea what I should wear either. All I know is he is wearing a black suit with a jacket. I know I should probably wear a dress but I have no idea? It will be COLD Friday night! Any suggestions? TIA!
